Signature Stogies is the owner and sole legal provider of laser engraved cigars, plant materials, and foliage. Signature Stogies purchased the assets including patents 6,180,914 and 6,172,328 from Advanced Foliar Technologies, inc. in 2005. Signature Stogies is a division of S.H. Taylor Acquisitions, Inc., with Sidney H. Taylor, II as CEO.

Laser engraved cigars are accomplished by using a low power/emissions laser passing over the outer cigar leaf (wrapper). The process removes the dark pigment within the leaf without harming the integrity of the cigar, and leaves a white imprint on the leaf. The current lasers used by Signature Stogies can engrave 25 cigars in ten minutes, where more modern lasers can engrave at much higher speeds and volumes.

Signature Stogies is able to engrave on most types of cigars, and can produce intricate detailed designs for imprint. Maduro or darker wrappers engrave the best, but lighter wrappers can be engraved as well.

The process can be done on other mediums such as: humidors, lighters, cutters, glass, acrylic, and even granite.
